Dr. L. Oliver Robinson, recently retired after 30 years of leadership in K-12 school districts in New York. He served 25 years as a Superintendent of Schools, making him one of the longest serving superintendents in the state of New York. For the last 20 years, since July of 2005, he served as the Superintendent of Schools for the Shenendehowa Central School District. Prior to Shenendehowa, Dr. Robinson was the Superintendent of the Mohonasen Central School District from 2001-2005.
Dr. Robinson’s recognition as the 2013 New York State Superintendent of the Year speaks to his keen sense of conviction to ensure equity in opportunities and outcomes for all students. Dr. Robinson is firmly rooted in an unwavering commitment to and belief in the transcending and transforming power of a quality education. His mantra is “Bringing out the genius in all children.”
Dr. Robinson is the author of Naked in the Public Eye - Leading and Learning in an Era of Accountability. He has spoken extensively and completed workshops on various leadership issues and topics, including, but not limited to, fiscal responsibility, organizational culture, leadership and governance, and effective management. He coaches and mentors superintendents nationwide via his consulting firm, 2EDUK8 LLC. Over the years he has served as an adjunct professor at various colleges and universities, most recently as a member of the faculty for the Sage Graduate School Educational Leadership Doctoral Program. Dr. Robinson received his Bachelor of Arts from Brown University, and Master’s and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees from the University at Albany.
